Brasstown upper falls
Brasstown Falls is a series of 4 falls on Brasstown Creek about 2 miles before the creek empties into the Chatooga River which separates the western edge of Oconee County from Georgia. The first falls, shown here, are an easy walk from the parking lot. It's a very pretty cascade down, perhaps, a 30 foot drop.
The second falls, just below the first, are a slight bit of a scramble to get to. The third falls we've seen from the top, but not been able to get down to the base. Well, we could get down - it's the getting back up part that worries us. The fourth falls, we're told, do indeed exist. Brasstown second falls
This is the second of the four falls along Brasstown Creek. Actually, the first falls are at the top of the picture, and the second fall is the wide sheet of water in the center, dropping about 20 feet into a large pool at the base. That's Ellen at the bottom of the picture, looking down toward the top of the 3rd falls. |
